Kaitlyn's Elmo Birthday card for Jaidyn

Kaitlyn is my 9 year old daughter and this is her card she made for her sister Jaidyn's 2nd birthday.  She designed it based on the crayon box in the Elmo's Party Cricut cartridge.

Kaitlyn is entering this card in Craft Your Passion Kids Crafts Challenge #2 - seeing red - create a project with red on it.

Here's a close up of the bottom:
Here's the inside:

I know Jaidyn won't understand it until she's much older, but there was alot of time and love put into this card and we are so proud of Kaitlyn for doing it!!!

Kaitlyn's School Turkey Project

November 2008 Kaitlyn, being in 1st grade at the time, had a project that the entire family had to help her make.  She came home from school with just the base of the turkey and she was instructed to be creative and this is what we came up with.

We took apart a pine cone and glued all of the pieces to the base and spray painted it gold.  While we waited for it to dry, my husband shaped pipe cleaners, some into the back tail feathers and the others into feet for the turkey.  I cut out the hat and the blurb on my Cricut.  I stamped the blurb with a Happy Thanksgiving stamp and attached some shiny leaves to the blurb.  I also used a gold pen to doodle on the hat and color in the band around the hat.  Once the body was dry we attached the tail and legs, hat, google eye, eye lash (left over from Halloween), fancy fur yarn, and Kaitlyn drew the details on the face of the Turkey.  Done!  I think it turned out so cute.

Here's a close up of the face and blurb:

Today I finally put this treasure in a shadow box to be a perminant decoration for Thanksgiving.  I love the way it looks in the frame and with the other Fall decorations:

I hope you enjoyed viewing our little family Thanksgiving project and have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Kaitlyn's Halloween Spider

My 9 year old daughter Kaitlyn loves to create just as much as I do and she seems to have a knack for recycling/repurposing things around the house.   Kaitlyn happened to be going through some of my craft supplies and found a piece of floral foam that was left over from a previous project and decided she wanted to make something of it...and this is what she made!

Kaitlyn used these items to create this spider:
  • floral foam
  • black craft paint
  • toothpicks
  • black tinsel-like balls
  • google eyes
  • white foam sheet
  • fancy fur yarn
  • floss
  • tacky glue

Kaitlyn painted the foam and toothpicks with black craft paint.  She glued on the little black tinsel-like balls to the ends of the toothpicks and inserted the toothpicks into the foam.  Kaitlyn then glued on the google eyes.  She then cut out 2 teeth from some white foam sheets and glued them on.  Lastly, Kaitlyn glued on the fancy fur yarn around the body of the spider and some black floss to hang it from.

We are entering this project into these challenges:
I think she did an amazing job and best of all this was all her creation...no help needed from Mom!

Kaitlyn's Monster Treat Bags

Well, after my daughter created her 1st treat bag she wanted to make more and she did just that.  Kaitlyn decided to make a monster treat bag for all the kids in our cul-de-sac, a total of 8 monster treat bags!!!   Each treat bag was created in different color combinations, one specifically designed for each kid.  Kaitlyn made all of these by herself, I only helped her by putting on the ribbon.

Here's a view of some of the ribbon we used:

These items were used to create these treat bags:
  • Cricut cartridge Mini Monsters - for the treat bag cut at 5 1 /2
  • misc. ribbon
  • google eyes
  • eyelets

We are entering these treat bags in these challenges:
Thank you so much for looking and we hoped you enojoyed Kaitlyn's Monster Treat Bags!

Kaitlyn's Spooky Treat Bag

Kaitlyn is my 9 year old daughter and when I got my Expression a couple of years ago she inherited my Baby Bug and she has been non-stop creating.  She created this little treat bag ALL by herself.  I only tied the ribbon on for her.

  • Cricut cartridge Mini Monsters - for the treat bag cut at 5 1 /2
  • Cuttlebug
  • D'vine Swirls embossing folder - for the black belly of the treat bag
  • ribbon
  • google eyes
  • eyelets
Here's a close up look at the embossing on the belly:
