Beware the Blood Moon card

I have been thinking about this project ever since I saw the challenge post for Macabre Monday over at Haunted Design House .  I new right off the bat I wanted to create a blood moon, inspired by the movie Red Riding Hood.  I also remembered I had great stack of paper from DCWV called The Immortal Love Stack and I knew it had a fabulous paper in it with a wolf face.  So that is how it started.

I used these items to create this card:
  • Design Studio
  • George and Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge - the moon "window"
  • Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge - BEWARE
  • Crackle Accents - on the BEWARE
  • Glossy Accents - on the BEWARE, the moon and the wolf eyes (inside)
  • Craft paint - clouds
  • red plastic folder divider - the moon
  • DCWV The Immortal Love Stack - the wolf face paper inside the card
  • computer font - "Under the Blood Moon...a man bitten is a man cursed." Red Riding Hood
  • brown ink - inked the edges of the inside font papers

Monster High Book Worm ATC/Bookmark

OMG!  It feels so good to be back creating.  I haven't been able to create in some time.  On June 29th I was diagnosed with breast cancer and on August 7th I had my 1st surgery to remove the cancer from my breast and they also diagnosed 2 of my lymph nodes with cancer, too.  So on August 21st I had my second surgery to remove more lymph nodes that thankfully came back negative!  Next week I have a couple of other tests before I start chemo and that I understand will be over the next 3 months then I have 6 weeks of radiation.  My underarm is a little sore but tolerable and I only feel at my best when I'm crafting (my therapy).

So today I bring to you a Monster High Book Worm ATC/Bookmark.  Even though my oldest daughter has been back to school since August 6th I figured since everyone seems to be having a Back 2 School challenge I just had to do something.  I decided to make an ATC but I also wanted to make it function as a bookmark too.  So I created a corner pocket for the ATC to slip over a corner of a page.  And of course it had to be Monster High for my daughter who loves all things Monster High!

I used these items to create my ATC/Bookmark:
  • Design Studio (couldn't live without)
  • Create a Critter Cricut cartridge (one of my favorite carts) - worm
  • Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge - book
  • Monster High stickers - book and heart
  • recycled Monster High doll box - cut out Monster High shield
  • Purple (my favorite color) zebra stripe ribbon - left over from my daugher's Monster High Birthday party
  • Index card - background
  • white gel pen - outline book

Baby Shower Pocket Invitations

November 11, 2009 was the last time I worked on these, that is until yesterday.  Ya see I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter and when I finished the outside of the last one I got up from the table and felt as if I peed myself.  I went to the bathroom and more came out but I still felt as if it were just pee.  I decided to just go back about my business and finish dinner.  When my husband came home I told him what had happened and we talked about whether or not to call the doctor.  I did end up calling the doctor and he told us to come in just to make sure.  So we hopped in the car and drove to the hospital.  They quickly took me in and did the test that would tell whether or not it was urine or amniotic fluid.  Within 5 minutes we knew, my water broke and I was only 30 weeks pregnant.  They proceeded to get me prepared to be moved to another hospital more equiped to handle 30 week old babies.  Needless to say, I spent the next week on bedrest in the hospital.  Then my baby decided to have some heart decellerations that caused the doctors to deliver my baby girl at 31 weeks via C-section on November 17, 2009 weighing only 3 lbs. 1 oz.  Jaidyn spent the next 27 days in the NICU and I never was able to finish my baby shower invitations nor did I have a baby shower.

So I decide that I would finish the invitations (all 24), keep one or two in my daughter's scrapbook and either give these away to a friend in need or sell them.  I know one day Jaidyn will get a kick out of what she had put me through before she was even born.

I used these items to create these baby shower invitations:
  • Design Studio
  • Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge - diaper bag, teddy bear, bottle
  • New Arrival Cricut cartridge - "Baby Shower"
  • tiny pink buttons
  • Studio G clear stamps - "She's Expecting" invitation info (on the back of the pull out)
  • Glossy Accents - bottle
  • Recollections Flocking - teddy bear
  • google eyes - teddy bear

Here is a closer look at the pull out (I just love the flocked teddy bear):

Frankie and His Bride ATC's

So I am totally digging doing these ATC's.  I'm enjoying the fact that I can plan, design, create and finish a single project in a day and that's with many interuptions.

Today I bring to you the very nervous Frankie and his Bride.  He is bringing his bride a bouquet of sweet candy.  You can see the look of uncertainty...will she have me or not?  None the less, isn't he too cute!!!

Our Bride has the same thought and brings Frankie a box of candy.  True love in the making <3

I used these items to create these ATC's:
  • Wooden rubber stamp from Michael's $1.00 bin from last year
  • Sharpie Markers
  • while gel pen
  • clear stamp from Bug Bites - All Year Round set - "for you, from me"
  • clear stamp from My Craft Spot - Inside & Out - set #2 - "love you!'
  • Martha Stewart corner punch
  • msic. candy stickers that I layered on white cardstock then cut around them
  • white card stock rolled for the stems of the candy bouquet and Frankie's Bride's dress

Thank You Volleyball Coach card

Today I share with you a thank you card I created for my daughter's volleyball coach.  During the summer my oldest daughter tried her hand at volleyball and did very well.  My husband and I use to play many, many years ago at least 3 times a week, but since moving and having kids there seems to be no time for us to play anymore.  I know some day we will be able to but for now it is our kids turn to play.  So the season is coming to an end in just 2 weeks so we will be giving this thank you card to her coach to show our appreciation for introducing our daughter to one of our favorite sports, volleyball!

I used these items to create this card:
  • Design Studio
  • Sports Mania Cricut cartridge
  • 2 Star brads
  • misc. clear Thank You stamp
