Disney's Frozen Elsa Inspired Birthday card

So my youngest daughter's 5th birthday was last weekend and she had a Disney Frozen party. A while ago I had been researching my Cricut cartridges for something I could use to make a Frozen birthday card. I found the perfect image on Paper Doll Teen Scene Cricut cartridge that would work for an Elsa image. I hadn't used this cartridge yet and I was a little intimidated by it. Let's just say there a many cuts you have to do for these paper dolls, so very time consuming. I also found on Life's a Party Cricut cartridge a castle that would work great for Elsa's frozen castle. I cut the castle card feature at 11 inches out of white cardstock...I wanted it to be as big as possible. I then cut the castle layer out of blue cardstock. Then I decided that Elsa needed to be pretty big too so I cut her at 5 inches. I also made some alterations to her dress to look more similar to Elsa's dress in the movie. Once I had all of that put together and attached to the card, I added the iridescent snowflake sequins and the other iridescent sequins. Lastly, I printed Olaf out from my computer and hand cut him out and attached him the inside of the card. I then added the Happy Birthday stamp.

Disney's Frozen Inspired Treat Box

Recently my youngest daughter turned 5 years old and she wanted a Disney's Frozen Birthday Party. I didn't want the typical party supplies that you get from your local party store so I made some of my own. I did a little research of my Cricut cartridges and found a super cute snowflake treat box on the Wrap it Up Cricut cartridge that I knew would be perfect for what I wanted to use it for. I made 6 white and 4 blue because we were expecting girls and boys to my daughter's party. I cut the boxes at 11 1/2 inches, folded it at the hash marks, added iridescent snowflakes around on all 4 sides, put in the treats and closed it up. This was a super easy treat box to make and everyone loved getting them as they left the party.

Here you can see I was able to fit a package of hot chocolate mix, Frozen fruit snacks, a sticker sheet and a tattoo.

Oh Christmas Tree

I am super excited today that I have been given the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for My Sheri Crafts. The challenge this week is #147 Oh Christmas Tree and you are to make a card for Christmas which must include a tree on it. This is what I made.

Here is a side view...you can see the dimension I added by putting a second layer on top with foam squares.

This is the inside...I kept it plain and simple with "Merry Christmas"

Pumpkin Carving/Countdown to Halloween Day 30

So today was our pumpkin carving day and it went well. My oldest daughter (12) wanted to do Jack Skellington and my youngest daughter (4) wanted to do Elsa. I was able to find Free stencils on Pinterest for both characters. I, of course, ended up doing my youngest daughter's pumpkin...and OMG I thought I was mutilating it, but it actually didn't turn out half bad. My oldest did hers all by herself and did an amazing job.

Fun stuff, making memories.

31 Days of Halloween Activities Calendar/Countdown to Halloween Day 27

 

So I have been working on this project pretty much the last 3 weeks, I guess I should have started it last month. Oh well, I guess we will get the full effect next year.

 

Below is a photo of what this started as, just a simple wooden country calendar. I only wanted to use the base, so I removed the top and bottom portions and tossed out the middle wooden piece too.

 

Once all of the pieces were gone I spray painted it all black.

 

 

I then began cutting and putting together all of the paper pieces.

The Walking Dead - No Sanctuary/Countdown to Halloween Day 14

Ok so I hope by now all of you who are fans of  The Walking Dead have had a chance to see this past Sunday's premiere episode title "No Sanctuary." I can honestly say that this episode was THE BEST EPISODE OF ANY TV SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I went through every emotion under the sun. The beginning was very concerning because you don't know if some of your favorite characters are going to be killed by the Termites. Then seeing Carol, Tyreese and Judith you have a little hope that Carol is going to save everyone. Then the worry intensifies because all hell breaks out in Terminus...fire, smoke, and walkers everywhere. I'm trying not to give too much away. Then the escape, the compassion, the lunacy, the abundance of walkers, the kills, the reunions and then the surprise. I swear I cursed, cried, cheered, and cheered some more. The episode was amazing!!! If you haven't seen it...YOU MUST WATCH IT NOW!

Decaying Zombie Head Makeover/Countdown to Halloween Day 10

Early last year I had created a Decaying Zombie Head and well this year I gave her a makeover.

You can see I hollowed out her eyes.  If I remember correcting when I was creating this last year no matter what I tried the eyes just weren't working for me so I left them as is...that is until now. I also lightened up her skin and bloodied areas. And that is pretty much it.

Ancient Evil Mummy Head/Countdown to Halloween Day 4

I am super thrilled to share with you today my Ancient Evil Mummy Head on the 4th day of Countdown to Halloween. My inspiration came from the challenge over at Haunted Design House - Macabre Monday - Ancient Evil. You are to create a project that is inspired by old, very old evil  and I immediately thought of mummies. I personally love mummies and going to Egypt is one of the first things on my bucket list...someday I hope see the pyramids and a real mummy.

So here are couple side views of my Ancient Evil Mummy Head:

I used these items to create my Ancient Evil Mummy Head:

• 1 Styrofoam wig head
• 1 Cotton Bandage Roll 4.5in x 4 yards - cut into 8 x 2 inch strips
• leftover coffee and tea - to color and age the bandage roll
• equal parts water and white craft glue - mixed

It was real simple. All I did was dip the strips into the coffee/tea, wring them out and set them aside. I then dipped each strip into the water/glue mixture and began layering them on the wig head. I purposely left some hanging and torn to give it a more weathered look. I let it dry over night. Lastly I added a necklace that I actually had hanging in my jewelry cabinet. I think she turned out beautiful and is going to make a wonderful addition to my Halloween decorations.

Haunting the Home/Countdown to Halloween day 3

Okay, I know this is Day 3 but I am new to this Countdown to Halloween. Forgive me.

So I have been pulling out the Halloween decorations for days now and slowing getting them up. I had to deal with a sick kid the last 2 days so it is taking a lot longer than usual.

This morning as I opened up the front door to let some of the cool air in I got this gorgeous glimpse of the rising sun hitting one of the hanging plastic skeletons on my garage and I just had to get a picture of it.

I think the sun made it look as if it were glowing...I love it!

Elmo Crayon Box

So there is a sweet little boy who just turned 2 and I wanted to make something special for him. Since we were only giving him some toys my youngest daughter was donating to him and some money, it had to be something different. I was going to make a pop-up box card but I thought, I already did that earlier in the year for his sister. I knew he liked Elmo so I flipped through some of my Sesame Street and Elmo Cricut cartridges and found alot of things I liked. I decided that the size of the crayon box on the Elmo's Party Cricut cartridge was perfect to not only hold a box of crayons but the money too and that is what I decided to do.

I used these items to create my Elmo Crayon Box:

This is an interesting challenge coming to you from My Craft Spot Challenge #152 - Blast From the Past - You are to pick a favorite project you have created some time in the past using My Craft Spot Products. I choose my Tulip Happy Birthday Pop Up Box Card

I used the My Craft Spot Clear Stamps Inside & Out Set 2 for the front and the back of this card. I love the way this card turned out and my mom still has it sitting on her table 3 months after her birthday.

Party Time Layout

I created this page in record time today, about 3 hours, and that included drying time for the stickles and glossy accents. I made this for a birthday gift for a friend of my daughter's. The birthday sleepover was tonight and I needed to get it done in a hurry. I spent all week taking care of my mom and her house that it was just not possible to even look at it until this morning. I was a little bummed because I thought I had a nicer zebra print paper but I couldn't find it or I had already used it. I am though very happy with the way it turned out.

I created a hidden tag for journaling.

Fall Straw Hat Girl

I can't tell you how long I have been wanting to make this. I know I have had that straw hat for at least 3 years. I also had all of the other items to create this hat for many years too. I think she turned out super cute. Living in the valley of the sun, Arizona, I don't get the Fall that I remember from my youth in New Jersey so I have to create it. As soon as September hits I start to bring out my Fall decorations so that it at least feels a little like Fall in my house. So I finally got all of the items out that I needed to create my hat and here she is.  I just love her!

Smile, Swing on over to Celebrate Jaidyn's 3rd Birthday Shrek 2 Party 2 page layout

Today I bring to you my Smile, Swing on over to Celebrate Jaidyn's 3rd Birthday Shrek 2 Party 2 page layout. This didn't start out as a 2 page layout but here it is and I think it works.

Page 1 is "Smile" because this page describes the photos I took of Jaidyn for her invitation. I actually did some hidden journaling behind the camera. Basically I made the camera into a shape card...pretty cool I think!

The journaling says, "It was October 30, 2012 and I had to get a good photo of Jaidyn for her 3rd birthday party invitation. So we went out front, with her favorite green shirt on, and I attempted to get a good photo. But Jaidyn would look everywhere but at me. The best one I got is the one in the frame. This is also the one I had put on her invitation. Not the greatest picture but definitely shows Jaidyn's personality." 

I also used an "old school" tool on the wooden frame. I used a texture plate called carpet to make the wooden frame look like tree bark instead of using the easy to use embossing folders.

One other cool thing I did was I used items from Jaidyn's party to create both pages. I used one of the napkins for the main images and a treat bag with Shrek on it. These were such fun pages to make...I really glad I kept those party items.
