Rainbow Birthday card

Today I give you my Rainbow Birthday card. A friend of mine's daughter is turning 2 this weekend and she had requested that I do a card for her like I had done for her son when he was born (SEEN HERE). Also she wanted me to incorporate her daughter's new toddler bedding SEEN HERE! I think I captured what she wanted...I am so happy with the way it turned out. What do you think?

The Jersey Devil

When I saw the challenge over at Haunted Design House - HDH #153 - Creepy Cryptids I knew right away what I wanted to do...The Jersey Devil!  Being a former Jersey Girl myself I know all too well about the Jersey Devil.

Legend has it that in 1735, a Pines resident known as Mother Leeds found herself pregnant for the thirteenth time. (Leeds is the name of one of New Jersey’s earliest settlers, and many descendants of the Leeds family can still be found throughout NJ to this day.) Mother Leeds was not living a wealthy lifestyle by any means. Her husband was a drunkard who made few efforts to provide for his wife and twelve children. Reaching the point of absolute exasperation upon learning of her thirteenth child, she raised her hands to the heavens and proclaimed “Let this one be a devil!”
Mother Leeds went into labor a few months later, on a tumultuously stormy night, no longer mindful of the curse she had utter previously regarding her unborn child. Her children and husband huddled together in one room of their Leeds Point home while local midwives gathered to deliver the baby in another. By all accounts the birth went routinely, and the thirteenth Leeds child was a seemingly normal baby boy.

Within minutes however, Mother Leeds’s unholy wish of months before began to come to fruition. The baby started to change, and metamorphosed right before her very eyes. Within moments it transformed from a beautiful newborn baby into a hideous creature unlike anything the world had ever seen. The wailing infant began growing at an incredible rate. It sprouted horns from the top of its head and talon-like claws tore through the tips of its fingers. Leathery bat-like wings unfurled from its back, and hair and feathers sprouted all over the child’s body. Its eyes began glowing bright red as they grew larger in the monster’s gnarled and snarling face. The creature savagely attacked its own mother, killing her, then turned its attention to the rest of the horrified onlookers who witnessed its tempestuous transformation. It flew at them, clawing and biting, voicing unearthly shrieks the entire time. It tore the midwives limb from limb, maiming some and killing others.

Beware - Haunted House card - HDH #111 Lurid and Looming Landscapes

Hey there fellow crafty bloggers.  I just wanted to share a card that I did this week for a co-worker.  I had already sold her 2 of my Halloween cards and then I showed a sketched that I did for this one and she said she wanted that one too once I made it...and here it is!

I really like the way this card turned out...I think I captured what I wanted and I hope my co-worker thinks so too!

Entered in Cooking with Cricut Anything Goes ChallengeI made this layout for a friend of mine and her little girl, named Lily, who is turning 1 this month and this is my gift to my friend and the dress (that inspired the layout below) is for her little girl.  I used many Cricut cartridges on this project and they are as follows:

Accent Essentials
- flower (accent 32)cut at 1 3/4
- circle (accent 12)cut at 1 1/4
- I inked the flower with LePlume II pink
- outlined the flower with cotton candy Stickles

Calligraphy Collection
- name cut at 3/4
- glittered with Martha Stewart onyx glitter

Doodlecharms - leaves (from the stick and leaves) cut at 4
- inked leaves with LePlume II light green

Paper Doll Dress Up
- fence I welded 2 fences togehter in Design Studio at 1 1/4 and trimmed to fit page
- I inked the fence with LePlume II grey
- outlined the fence with frosted lace Stickles

ZooBalloo
- clouds cut at 2
- outlined the clouds with white iridesant Studio g glitter glue

Graphically Speaking
- sun (the great outdoors) icon blackout cut at 4
- circle of the sun (got kids?) shift icon blackout cut at 1 3/4
- applied yellow Studio g glitter glue to sun and circle

I used pattern paper from DCWV Spring Stack, DCWV Nana's Kids, and DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies. I used foam squares to raise most of the elements, adhered some ribbon, lady bugs and some misc. embellishments.  See below for more pics, thanks for visiting!
